What “assigned” means in Chorish

An assignment means one or more members are responsible for a chore during the current reset period. Assigned chores show on chore tiles and member cards, but anyone can still help and mark the chore done.

Assign from Manage Tasks

Only the home owner can add, edit, or remove chores and their assignees.

  1. Open Manage Tasks — from Manage → Chores on the Chore Command Centre, or tap your member card → DetailsManage Tasks.
  2. Add: When you create a chore and members exist, choose who is assigned — leave empty for an open chore anyone can grab, pick one owner for the chore, or select several helpers.
  3. Edit: Tap Edit on a chore — update the assignee list anytime (add, remove, or clear everyone).

Multi-assign tip: Selecting several teammates assigns them all to the same chore. This is useful for shared jobs, like bins or washing up.

Filter chores by assignee

Once you’ve used assignments, Manage Tasks can show filter pills with each member’s avatar, name, and assigned count. Tap one to show chores assigned to that member.

Unassign — clear assignees without deleting chores

One chore:

  • Edit the chore → remove everyone from the assignee picker (or confirm Clear all assignees when the app prompts for that shortcut). The chore stays on the board; only the assignment goes away.

Whole home:

  • From Manage Tasks, use Reset all chore assignments to clear assignees across active chores. This does not reset completed chores. Assignment resets and completion resets are separate.

Assigning versus completing

These are separate:

  • Assigned = who is responsible for a chore.
  • Completed = whether the chore has been done.

So yes, a chore can be marked done and still appear in Assign a chore if nobody is assigned yet.
